The members of the Science Fictions Writers of America (SFWA) annualy award the Nebula for best SF/F novel published in the United States. SF and Fantasy novels published or newly translated into English and released in the United States or on the Internet during the previous calendar year are eligible. A novel is defined as a work of fiction that is 40,000 words or longer. The nominees and winners are chosen by members of SFWA; authors of nominated works and winners are not required to be members to be eligible. Authors who belong to SFWA nominate works for the aware; the the six works with the most nominations are places on the final ballot. SFWA members vote and the final results are presented at the Nebula Awards ceremony in May.
