The Hugo Award for Best Novel is an award given by the World Science Fiction Convention for an SF or Fantasy novel of 40,000 words or more, published or translated into English in the previous calendar year. The novels are nominated and voted for by supporting or attending members of the annual World Con. The finalist is announced at the World con for that year, in a formal ceremony.
