A Picture Of Language: The Fading Art Of Diagramming SentencesI don’t know that it’s fading, actually. I do think that the so-called “Transformational grammar” evangelized by Noam Chompsky is useless if you’re not a linguist.
Who Is Killing American Women? Their Husbands And Boyfriends, CDC Confirms “A new CDC “report finds that most female homicides involve domestic violence.” Pretty sure women already knew this.
A Google employee, James Damore, used a Google internal communication system to publish a manifesto decrying women engineers in strikingly inappropriate and unprofessional ways; he was also sexist, ignorant, semi-literate and displays striking poor understanding of basic software engineering concepts, like the existence of an end-user. Gizmodo published a leaked version of Damore’s diatribe. The pushback was striking; here’s one of the most cogent takedowns from a former Google engineer, Yonatan Zunger. Damore was fired by Google on Monday. The alt-right and various similarly ignorant groups and individuals began having eom-laden meltdowns. Here’s a truth: Damore doesn’t have free speech on his employer’s dime and publishing systems. As Business Insider explains “Freedom of speech is the right to freely express an opinion. It is most assuredly not the right to express an opinion with freedom from the consequences.” The alt-right and similar neo-Nazi cohorts have subsequently begun “outing” Google employees and made gestures towards doxxing, etc. Google cancels staff meeting after Gamergate-style attack on employees “Google cancelled a company-wide meeting on Thursday after several of its employees became targets of a Gamergate-style campaign of harassment by internet trolls angered by the firing of an engineer who had written a controversial memo about diversity.
“We had hoped to have a frank, open discussion today as we always do to bring us together and move forward,” CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in an email. But following the leak of proposed discussion questions, he said ‘Googlers”, a term used internally to describe employees, were being personally named on websites.”

I think the fact that Julian Assange offered him a job pretty much says it all. Swines stick together.

💩🔥💰 Trumpery 💩🔥💰
Trump’s Trans Military Ban Now Policy “Last Tuesday, 56 retired generals and admirals came out against Trump’s proposed ban. “This proposed ban, if implemented, would cause significant disruptions, deprive the military of mission-critical talent, and compromise the integrity of transgender troops who would be forced to live a lie, as well as non-transgender peers who would be forced to choose between reporting their comrades or disobeying policy,” the retired officers said in a statement, The Hill reported.”
Transgender Soldiers Want the Dignity of Serving Their Country A CIA officer writes about the men and women in uniform alongside whom she serves.
William F. Buckley wrote this about 💩🔥💰 in 2000:

Look for the narcissist. The most obvious target in today’s lineup is, of course, Donald Trump. When he looks at a glass, he is mesmerized by its reflection. If Donald Trump were shaped a little differently, he would compete for Miss America. But whatever the depths of self-enchantment, the demagogue has to say something. So what does Trump say? That he is a successful businessman and that that is what America needs in the Oval Office. There is some plausibility in this, though not much. The greatest deeds of American Presidents — midwifing the new republic; freeing the slaves; harnessing the energies and vision needed to win the Cold War — had little to do with a bottom line.

White House pays staffer $89,000 to spot positive news That’s right that spoiled preshus snowflake wants to hear good stuff, and you get to pay for it.
